Immigrant from Space is a hand-hammered copper silhouette, by Marius Ritiu, that frames the figure of an imagined outsider arriving from beyond Earth, somewhere between visitor, migrant, and speculative being. Rendered in a reflective yet heavily worked metal surface, the form reduces the body to an outline, allowing texture, dents, and irregularities in the copper to carry the emotional weight of displacement and arrival. Rather than depicting a literal character, the work suggests a condition of being out of place—an entity defined not by origin or destination, but by transition itself. The copper surface, shaped through repeated hammering, gives the silhouette a sense of accumulated experience, as if contact, pressure, and passage through unknown atmospheres have inscribed themselves onto its skin. In this way, the piece becomes both a figure and a signal: a quiet presence suspended between terrestrial identity and extraterrestrial imagination.
