Arachne

Arachne imagines an organism that seems to have drifted into our world from deep space, suspended between the familiar and the unknowable. Crafted in hand-hammered copper, the sculpture evokes an enigmatic life form whose branching structure recalls a web, a root system, a nervous network and a constellation simultaneously. Drawing on the myth of Arachne, the work expands the act of weaving beyond human craft into a cosmic process, where matter, energy and time are continuously spun into new configurations. The hammered surface preserves the physical memory of its making, each mark suggesting growth rather than manufacture, as though the sculpture has evolved instead of being built. Hovering between biology and astronomy, Arachne blurs distinctions between organism and artifact, proposing a speculative encounter with an intelligence shaped by the vastness of the cosmos. It invites viewers to consider the possibility that life, connection and creativity extend far beyond terrestrial experience, weaving invisible threads between ourselves and the universe.
